powderfinger lickin' good
[16 March, 2004 typed at 8:42 p.m.]

it's march 15th and brissie band powderfinger is playing at the guvernment, in central toronto...

doors open at 7:00pm - we (danielle, nicken, james and myself) arrive at 6:15pm, and wait in minus 1o weather, danielle and i without jackets, as not to pay for the coatcheck....so guess how cold it was for us! (i had freezerburn)

doors did not infact open until 7:15pm (bastards)

running in, passing by the merch section i didnt need to by anythink, because i was wearing my powderfinger shirt (that i got for free, while i was in australia) we head straight for the barrier and are standing dead on in front of the microphone, front row!

8:00 and support band the waking eyes comes on and does their set, has a few laughs and throws some of their demo cd's into the crowd - frizbee style.....

9:30 and the lights go down, Darren, Coggsy, Ian, Bernard and John walk up on-stage, the fans go wild....and so it begins:

Rockin' Rocks

Waiting For The Sun

Love Your Way

Since You've Been Gone

Thrillology (extended version)

My Kinda Scene (extended version)

Sunsets

These Days (Bernard piano solo, as requested by me)

Pockets

Stumblin'

Like A Dog (extended awesome harmonica blues version)

(Baby I Got You) On My Mind (extended version)

*break*

after 10 minutes of chanting "finga!" the boys come back out and continue with:

Runnin' Down A Dream (tom petty cover)

My Happiness

*end*

oh soo fucking sweet was this concert (except the guy who was staring at me the whole time, because i knew the words to every song that they played...and it seemed i might have been the only one, seeings though the album hasnt been released in canada and wont be until april 13th!)

after the guys left the stage people started leaving and we stayed, you know groupy style, trying to get drum sticks and that kinda jazz, and guessed who scored Bernard's setlist.....ME!! (hence how i know the setlist so well) and thank u muchly to nicken for punching people to get it for me - but people the winning doesnt stop there, while waiting for some rudeass roady to finish his conversation (so i could see if the band would sign my album covers) my miss danielle scored Bernard's beer that he was driking on stage....so let's re-cap: i have Bernard's setlist and i have his empty beer car that he was drinking from on stage!

and then just when you think it couldn't get better......

guess who went to the afterparty and met the whole band, got autographs and shook hands with Darren, Coggsy, Ian, Bernie and John???

that would be me.....

i spoke to Ian about the band putting out a "Live On Vulture Street" DVD by the end of the year and Something For Kate tour canada, i spoke to Bernie about the weather here and how it is "fucking cold" and how i got used to it, i asked him whether the picture on the cover of "Vulture Street" is a boy or girl, to which he replied "I don't fucking know, i didn't fucking draw it, but that is a good question", and i got him to sign my setlist, which i told him was his, he's reply was "scoooooore!" and i talked to John about selling my old 2001 ticket stubb (from festival hall) on ebay - it was truly a fucking awesome night......

vulture street cover signed by bernard (other signatures insdie)

odyssey number five signed by all the boys

and the best of all the night, meeting mister Bernard Fanning, lead singer of powderfinger

me, bernie and aussie pal jen at the afterparty
